Adam Driver and Sylvester Stallone have signed onto a planned feature film spotlighting retired Army Staff Sgt. Travis Mills, whose recovery after an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan cost him all four limbs has already been the subject of his best-selling book and a documentary, Deadline.com reported last week.

The film reportedly will share its title with Mills' memoir -- "As Tough as They Come." The book details the 2012 incident and Mills' recovery, which included 19 months of rehabilitation.

Driver, a Marine veteran, reportedly will play the 82nd Airborne soldier, while Stallone will direct and play Mills' father-in-law.

William Morris Endeavor, which represents Stallone, is pitching the project to Fox producers, per the Deadline.com report. The report does not include further production or casting details; IMDB.com lists the film as a 2018 release.

Mills and his family, along with fellow soldiers, participated in the filming of "Travis: A Soldier's Story," a documentary that debuted in 2014. Since leaving service, he's started a charitable foundation, given motivational speeches, even parachuted with the Army Golden Knights and the first lady of Maine.

Driver, best known for portraying the villain Kylo Ren in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," founded Arts in the Armed Forces, a group that brings theater performances to current and former service members and families, in 2008.

Stallone, who appeared Sunday night with "Rocky" co-star Carl Weathers during the Golden Globe Awards, has roles in two other movie franchises -- "The Expendables 4" and "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" -- on his calendar.

Kevin Lilley is the features editor of Military Times.
