Striving for the UFC

If you’re a Marine and you follow mixed martial arts, you’ve probably heard of Sgt. George Lockhart, a martial arts instructor trainer assigned to the Martial Arts Center of Excellence at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va.
Lockhart, who’s been a professional fighter since he was 18, was selected to be on Spike TV’s “The Ultimate Fighter” late last year.
But the Corps told him he couldn’t go, saying op temp at the MACE was too high and citing concerns about the other contestants on the show.
I’ve told a lot of people in my chain, it’s like a little kid that has a Christmas present that he wants but he didn’t get for Christmas,” Lockhart said. “Obviously, you are going to wish you had it, but I got over it real quickly. It’s not my final shot or anything of that nature.”

March 2nd, 2010 at 10:12 pmI have a problem with the Marine Corps’ stance on this.
On the one hand they are citing concerns over questionable behavior during certain segments of the taping as being the reason for denying Sgt. Lockharts request to participate.
And I share their concern.
But yet the Marine Corps is FULLY participating in the sponsorship of this program via the usual advertisements etc during the telecast of this program.
So what gives?
“You can’t have your cake and eat it too”?
Ridiculous.
Sgt. Lockhart’s comments during this interview indicate an extremely mature and obviously physical “BAD ASS”.
What more could the Marine Corps ask for?
This guy’s positon in MACE makes him worth his weight in gold both in terms of his MOS and value as a one of kind recruiting recruiting magnet!!
Geez, USMC get the lead out!
Grant this Devil Dog’s request.
What would Chesty do?…

Travis
