Personnel Help for Deployed Airmen
July 21st, 2011 | Flightlines | Posted by Markeshia Ricks
Air Force officials are testing a new capability to speed up personnel assistance for deployed airmen, according to Air Force Personnel, Services and Manpower Public Affairs.
Personnel Support for Contingency Operations, or PERSCO, teams are being established at deployed locations in U.S. Air Forces Central’s area of responsibility to give airmen access to the Air Force Case Management System. The first deployed team to have access to the system will be located at the Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan. The rest of the teams will be in place by the end of the year.
PERSCO teams will coordinate with the Air Force Personnel Center to resolve personnel questions. Airmen are encouraged to use the Air Force Personnel Services website at https://gum-crm.csd.disa.mil, or call the Total Force Service Center directly. Some deployed Airmen may seek guidance from their deployed PERSCO teams to assist them with personnel issues.
The teams are one of several initiatives the Air Force has launched in recent months to enhance personnel services for deployed total force Airmen. Other initiatives include centralizing personnel functions like processing re-enlistments and campaign medals.
Active-duty and civilian deployed members requiring personnel assistance can call TFSC at DSN 318-665-5000, select active duty and press the pound key to reach the dedicated deployment cell. Guard and Reserve members can reach the TFSC by calling DSN 312-926-6528. On Aug. 1, the Guard and Reserve number will be replaced with DSN 312-847-3294.
For more information on personnel services, visit the Air Force Personnel Services website at https://gum-crm.csd.disa.mil. Users will need to set up a new account and access the site with a common access card or username and password.
A few bucks can go a long way

Chances are if you’re reading this you’re: a) gainfully employed by the U.S. government or draw a pension from the U.S. government; and b) have a few extra bucks to throw around.
(And on that latter part, there’s an easy litmus test: You have cable TV? Then you have disposable income.)
It’s time to spread some of that dough around.
The Air Force is taking part of the Feds Feed Families food-drive campaign, which runs through Aug. 31. The 2,500 folks at Air Force Personnel Center are aiming to raise more than five tons of food and hygiene products.
Allow me to soapbox for a minute: The Air Force has about 330,000 active-duty airmen, 71,200 reservists, 106,000 Air National Guardsmen and 146,660 full-time civilian employees. If everyone donates a few pounds of food, that can make a huge impact.
And if you’re one of those folks who needs to win at all cost, the Feds Feed Families website tracks the total pounds collected by government agency. Kicking everyone’s butt is the Agriculture Department with more than 103,000 pounds in June. The Defense Department (by far the largest in the government) totaled 12,754 that month — less than a third of Homeland Security’s total and just edging the Office of Personnel Management.
