Deathmatch- Multicam vs. the Army’s Ego

CamoThrowdown Mirage, nope. All-over-brush, nope. AOR, nope.

Matt Cox is reporting the Army has come up with a new camo pattern to address the deficiencies identified by congress and soldiers serving in Afghanistan. They’ve added coyote brown to the UCP pattern. The Army will test “UCP Delta”pattern, shown above, left,  along side Multicam, right,  in theater within a month.

Why Multicam? Because Natick already tested it (twice) and declared it a superior option to UCP. How do we know? Check out armytimes.com.

UCP Delta is slightly less horrible (or maybe just as, I can’t decide) as regular UCP. I’ve seen Multicam used in Afghanistan and it just works better, period. Unfortunately I foresee the Army picking UCP Delta because it’s their own brain child and kicking Multicam to the side because it’s an “outsider.”

Finally a change that the Soldiers have been asking for! It’s sad that it took pressure from Congress to make the upper command change the ACU. The current ACU works really well if you are fighting in a rock quarry but not anywhere else. I am in the Army buy why not just adopt the Marines uniform? One uniform for both services would save money for both branches that could be used for an increase in better gear for the front line guys to use. It’s pointless to spend millions of more dollars to “try out” another design.
