Grey Ghost Gear is having a sale and blowing out product at 50% off until Jan 14th.  To get this pricing, use promotional code “extr50″ when you get to checkout.

I just ran a three day carbine course where I used their modular padded belt, which is now on sale for under $5.  Single magazine pouches (M16 mag) are right around $5.50, and triple panel pouches are on sale for under $10.  Throw in a dump pouch for under $10 and magnetic pistol pouches for under $15 and you have yourself a super cheap setup to grab and go.

We’ve reviewed the light weight assault packs and I can give them a solid recommendation.  The Lite Lock assault pack is now under $40, and that is the pack I carry in my cruiser for my emergency gear.  This is the same assault pack that I picked up as Christmas presents for friend and family (nieces and nephews got squared away this year).  The three day pack in Multicam is under $60, which means I’ll be placing my order before I post this article and they all get swiped.

Last but not least, I saw Oakley M frames under $65, and riggers belts in larger sizes so you can even gift your fat friends if you think they are worth $8.

Its not often we see deals like this come along, I’ll have my order placed before you read this.

Blue Force Gear (BFG) is probably best known for their slings, but one of their items we’ve been using for a few years is the Redi-Mod.  The Redi-Mod is a light weight variation of the Redi-mag® Quick Attach, which Blue Force Gear takes and machines away portions for an overall 25% weight reduction.  They also bevel any sharp areas and then finish it so there are no corrosion issues. The machine time and refinishing adds quite a bit to the price tag, but right now BFG has knocked $70 off, giving it a price of $119.95.

What does the Redi-Mod do?  Quite simply it allows for the quickest magazine change possible.  I know some people will point out they can tape their magazines together or use clips to secure mags, but anyone who has tried that knows how well it works out in real life.  The top round edges forward, the clamps don’t typically hold, and bolt hold open issues arise when its blocked with a magazine.  The Redi-Mod covers the unused magazine, and allows the shooter to continually top off the weapon with a fresh magazine at a lull in the shooting.  There are several Redi-Mag versions, and by far this is the one I prefer.  While teaching classes I’ve seen plenty of guys using earlier models, and watched as they dumped magazines, or were unable to lock the bolt to the rear.  No such problem with this beast.  Installation is simple, and if you can field strip your weapon, dropping this piece in is cake.  Click the picture for more information from the manufacturers website, and an installation video.

I spent a few months comparing some new-to-the-market holsters and the Pardus Kydex Appendix Holster ($85) was in the lineup. It’s a strong appendix inside-the-waistband (AIWB) offering with some trick design that offers a lot of adjustability. You can adjust the ride height and cant by moving the BladeTech straps up or down in the rivet holes. The level of flexibility extends the use of the Pardus all the way to a 3 or 4 o’clock carry if you can’t stand the 12-2 appendix carry.

What’s unique about the Pardus AIWB is the body side contact surface– it’s not flat as you might expect on something that’s going to sit against your body. There’s a bulge down low that creates a bearing surface that mates up to your upper thigh while the upper part of the holster rides flat on your lower abdomen. This makes for a comfy ride with even a large frame pistol like the Glock. The all Kydex construction makes for an uncollapsible, thin profile and solid retention.

The stiff Kydex won’t soften over time and that’s important when carried up front where twisting and bending can make a traditional leather holster fold in ways that could interfere with the trigger during holstering. More info on the Pardus AIWB is available here.

If your holiday cards came with checks (thanks grandma!), check out this deal. Midway is clearing out the Aimpoint Micro R-1 since it has been discontinued in favor of it’s more rugged siblings, the T-1 and H-1. The R-1 doesn’t have the night vision compatible settings and it will only take a 3 meter dunking, but it’s otherwise the same $500+ optic in civilian specs.

The R-1 is a fine, 4moa, 1x optic that can run on anything from a six-shooter to a carbine. I run the T-1 on a carbine and have no complaints. If you’re looking for something to run matches, this is a good deal.

Nemo Equipment Ditto Wallet
Wallet take a licking at the mall today? Replace your worn-out cow, skinned job with a distinctive MultiCam Ditto wallet from Nemo Equipment. It’s made from actual tent fabric left over during production. It’s a strange combination of Earthday and moto that leaves you feeling like you’re helping the earth even though you’d rather be closing with the enemy. The face material is leftover tent flys and the heavier parts are the remains of airbeams. GearScout set up a little deal for you, use coupon code GEARSCOUT20% to save 20% when you buy a MC Ditto from Tactical Distributors.

Lightning review: Ours has held up and payed out without issue. Downside, you’ll end up picking up a tabs with your friends just so you can show it off. The zipper pull would be a lot quieter if it were 2mm or smaller cord instead of metal. Clip it with some pliers, tie in a loop 2mm cord from REI and roll in peace.

Noveske Rifleworks is having a one day 7% off everything sale.  For people who have been living under a rock, Noveske weapons are held to a higher standard, use better barrels, and have upgraded features not found on other carbines.  John Noveske is former Army, and an all around good guy.  I own several Noveske weapons, and recommend them to friends and guys on my squad.  John is also answering the phones today, so if you call over there, tell him we said hi and ask him if the brewery across the street is open today.  Good people and good beer over there as well.

Otte Gear is having an early Christmas sale, which makes sense considering now is the time to be wearing their DK Heavy Jacket. All colors and all sizes are available, and the prices are already converted on the website so you don’t have to wonder how much something is really going to cost you.

GearScout has a few different Otte Gear reviews coming up, but I’ll give away the ending a bit early to say that based on current and past use of Otte Gear, I have no problems recommending it to friends and family. Seeing it on sale at 50 percent off means I’ll be doing some early Christmas shopping myself.

The 50 percent off DK Heavy Jacket sale is going on from Nov. 3 through Nov. 10 and includes Light Coyote (looks like FDE or a slightly lighter Coyote Brown to my eye), Foliage Green, Multicam, and Desert Digital.
