Otte Gear is having an early Christmas sale, which makes sense considering now is the time to be wearing their DK Heavy Jacket. All colors and all sizes are available, and the prices are already converted on the website so you don’t have to wonder how much something is really going to cost you.

GearScout has a few different Otte Gear reviews coming up, but I’ll give away the ending a bit early to say that based on current and past use of Otte Gear, I have no problems recommending it to friends and family. Seeing it on sale at 50 percent off means I’ll be doing some early Christmas shopping myself.

The 50 percent off DK Heavy Jacket sale is going on from Nov. 3 through Nov. 10 and includes Light Coyote (looks like FDE or a slightly lighter Coyote Brown to my eye), Foliage Green, Multicam, and Desert Digital.

slingshot-jacket-alpha-greenI just came across the “special” Patagonia Slingshot jacket that looks like a Berry Amendment overrun made for one of their “special” customers. It’s available in alpha green (M-XXL) and coyote (L & XL, only) and has Velcro covered shoulder pockets. $90 is a good deal, especially considering these were made here in the US. I’m guessing these are going to begin appearing on the forums for $100+ once they sell out.

venture hcUPDATE: All Gone. Back up to $123.

Amazon is offering the reliable little Venture HC GPS as its deal of the day. It might be last-gen tech, but it’s still got it where it counts, and for $100, it’s a solid value. It’ll give you posreps all day on a pair of AAs. In addition to its better battery life, the screen is easier to read than the newer touch-screen models.

Hey, deployers: Get your M-Dub on and be prepared for your benchmates to suck the bandwidth out from under you as Skype offers up free calls to any country playing in the World Cup through July 11, 2010.

*The small print says you’ll need an Skype account with a credit card on file (so they can roll you into a paid account after the promo ends, I’m guessing.) Also, there’s something about limiting the promotion to 100k subscriptions, so hurry up and sign on.

Grey Group Training just announced their “Big F#$%ing Memorial Day Sale” and it looks effing good. The sale begins Saturday at midnight, and ends Monday at midnight.

30% Off Arc’teryx, Mountain Hardwear, and Salomon
30% Off all Footwear
40% Off RAV Cut Armor and RAV Carriers
TAD Gear Direct Action Tops for $49.95

lowa dtf Aside: We’re preparing a review of a few boots, one of which is the Lowa Zephyr Desert Mid TF. It was one of our favorites and at 30% off ($112) from GGT this weekend we’d be remiss in not pointing it out as a great buy. The boot is light, cool, quiet and as supple as a slipper in arid terrain. It’s not an alpine long-hauler, more of a beefed up sneaker. The fit is dead true, so order up a half size if you’re on the fence.

Going to Shot Show? Want a free GPS unit? Find this man on the show floor and tell him you read Gear Scout. He’ll have one Foretrex 401 to give away each day of Shot Show, from Tuesday, Jan. 19, through Friday, Jan. 22. Joe will update his Twitter feed (Stroenterprise) with his location and stalk status while the stalk is in progress. He’s agreed to cut off his mullet to make it easier for our readers to find him in the crowd. He’ll also sport a Garmin ballcap with a large safety pin stuck through the back. As far as all the legalese — this isn’t our contest. We’re just giving you a heads-up.

Heads up- Grey Group Training is two years old this week and they are celebrating as all retailers do– with a sale. Through November 21st they’re offering 10-50% off their entire range. This isn’t a way for them to dump slow moving gear. They’ve dropped prices on everything as low as they can without pissing off their suppliers or losing money.

Their prices are in-sane.

AmmoEngine_ .45 GAP, Instock For Sale Premium & Discount Ammunition, Ammo Deals
Plug in the type of ammo you want to buy and Ammoengine.com spits out a list of online retailers waiting to take your money. You can sort the results by price, manufacturer, grain weight or bullet type. The price per bullet is a fast way to compare prices, but it’s one thing to know it, and another to actually see it. If there isn’t already, I bet the popularity of Ammoengine.com will be accompanied by an uptick in the sale of bore sights.
