Magpul has released their production iPhone Field Cases.  First shown at last years SHOT Show, the early prototypes did not hold up as well as they should have.  Magpul went back to the proverbial drawing board kitchen, and did a redesign with new materials.  The internet can stop crying, these cases are now shipping for the iPhone 3G/3GS and iPhone 4.  For under $10, its the same material as the actual Magpuls (the ones that go on USGI mags), so this should be pretty durable.  You can check out the below link for more information.

Nemo Equipment Ditto Wallet
Wallet take a licking at the mall today? Replace your worn-out cow, skinned job with a distinctive MultiCam Ditto wallet from Nemo Equipment. It’s made from actual tent fabric left over during production. It’s a strange combination of Earthday and moto that leaves you feeling like you’re helping the earth even though you’d rather be closing with the enemy. The face material is leftover tent flys and the heavier parts are the remains of airbeams. GearScout set up a little deal for you, use coupon code GEARSCOUT20% to save 20% when you buy a MC Ditto from Tactical Distributors.

Lightning review: Ours has held up and payed out without issue. Downside, you’ll end up picking up a tabs with your friends just so you can show it off. The zipper pull would be a lot quieter if it were 2mm or smaller cord instead of metal. Clip it with some pliers, tie in a loop 2mm cord from REI and roll in peace.

Smith’s Outside the Wire (OTW) goggles offer some serious protection on their own, but if you find yourself in the turret you might want all the insurance you can get for your peepers. The $30 snap-in system is more than just two pieces of clear plastic glued together. Smith made two optically corrected lenses that are ground to work together and joined by silicone. They also have a port that keeps pressure equalized inside and outside the lens. This helps reduce, but won’t eliminate fogging. Watch Smith’s Mike Torres snap the system together in the video.

Got Multicam? Tactical Tailor does, and they’ve got it in gear you can probably use.

The two piece Modular Assault Vest (MAV) is one of Tactical Tailors more popular offerings, and with good reason. The MAV gives a lot of configuration options, and goes on quick over armor and plate carriers. More than one MAV can be set up if you are alternating missions, saving you from pulling pieces on and off your equipment, which is a pain when you get short-notice tasking or changes. The two piece TT MAV is shown below worn over concealment armor along with the Arc’teryx combat jacket.

Stat-X First Responder is a fire suppression unit that is similar in use to a smoke grenade.   It is designed for use in building interiors, and for Military use there are a few opportunities I can think of where this can come in handy.  In talking with a company rep at SHOT, they stated the Stat-X First Responder is safe for use with persons inside the room its being dispersed in.  There is no oxygen depletion, instead, the materials interact with the fire on a chemical level.  Their website lists “The compound is made of a patented mixture of Potassium Nitrate, Dicyandiamide, and an organic binder.”

For teams that are making entry using flash bangs or grenades, the possibility is always present of combustibles inside.  The Stat-X First Responder can be deployed in a room which is in flames allowing for seizure of the room, rescue of persons, and recovery of materials.  While not listed as a use by the company, it would be interesting to see what this would do for a vehicle which had been hit and was on fire.

Wilson Combat is well known for its 1911 pistols, and it has recently decided to make a hard push into the tactical world of the AR15/M16. New from Wilson Combat is the Tactical Trigger Unit (TTU). Listed below are what Wilson Combat considers the highlights. More important than the spec sheet, however, is how this single-stage trigger feels and how it holds up.

The team over at Wilson Combat got a new TTU into our hands, and we’re starting to test it. We’ll kick out a review after we know how it’s going to hold up after a few thousand trips of the trigger. From a first impression, it feels great, and installation is dirt simple.
