So you had your cookout tonight. Bet it wasn’t anything like this.

Already a classic in my book, this music video was shot in high definition at 1,000 frames per second for a gloriously dramatic slo-mo effect.

Good Dog

Good dog. Based on the car and how hungry the canine is, I’m guessing this is eastern Europe.

Update: Thanks to readers BUG and Josh for pointing us to the rest of the video on youtube. Indeed, it looks like some French speaking police or security force shot video of their training Malinois training session. Awesome dogs.

I just stumbled across Blackheart International’s video showing the effects of a 7.62 round on radio batteries. We covered the batteries at Shot ’09, but we haven’t seen the video.

They shoot two popular military radio batteries, the lithium 5590 and rechargeable 2590 for reference. Then they blast their zinc-air batteries one cell at a time while powering some strobe lights to show how much damage they can take before quitting.

I carried a few of the 2590s around as part of homemade solar powered camera and laptop recharging system back in OIF I. Had I watched this video back then, I would have thought a lot harder before carrying those little green blowtorches in my pack.

Danner put up some marketing videos of their workers making boots in their Portland, Oregon facility. It’s a commercial, for sure; but it’s great footage of bootmaking. There’s more video on Danner’s site if you get jazzed on bootmaking (or video).

Magpul Dynamics has released a preview of their upcoming “Art of the Tactical Handgun” and “Aerial Platform Operations” training DVDs, with Legion Productions handling the camera work and production. Looks like Chris and Travis are having fun working with basic through advanced students again, and the handgun video brings a little extra material worth watching.

Check out the trailers, and see what you think.

One Meeelion frames-per-second. That’s a great way to watch bullets meeting steel, glass and gelatin.

My favorite scenes are around 1:20 where you get to see a the progression of damage as bullets hit plates at different angles and 2:01 where a bullet is disrupted mid-flight by a BB. The results are a little surprising.

The Army brought out a bunch of their latest weapons for the NDIA Small Arms Symposium range day in Las Vegas. Among them was the XM25, the service’s long-awaited, experimental 25mm airburst weapon which the Army is going to have soldiers test out in the war zone this summer.

Rob had a front row seat and shot a little video (above) as Major Elliott Caggins fired two rounds for the crowd.

You look through its special optic, put the red dot on the target, press a button and the range is displayed along with a point-of-impact crosshair. If the target is enemy behind cover, you push another button to add a few meters to the range, put the crosshair just above the target and shoot. The round is supposed to explode right over top of the enemy.
