Members of 4th Platoon, Charlie Co., 1-17 Infantry, eat their Thanksgiving meal after taking over a compound for a brand new FOB near the Argandab valley in Kandahar. Most of the troops said the dinner was decent enough – although there was one loud dissent, “the mashed potatoes taste like shit! And that’s the best part of the meal!” It was universally agreed, though, that flying and trucking in a hot holiday meal was a very, very good thing.

Glad to see the effort was made to provide the Thanksgiving Day meal for the troops…Been there, done that – food goes a long way in that type of environment.

Hope all get to see the next one at home with their families.

4th platoon? Since when does Charlie Co have 4 platoons?
Guess I’ll ask my son, he’s in 3 PLT.

The Thanksgiving pictures reminded me that last Thanksgiving I flew down to Fort Benning to meet him while he was still in OSUT. Best Thanksgiving ever.

There are actually two infantry squads who ride in the infantry carrier vehicles along with the mgs and atgm stryker. The option varies within the brigade.
