Staff Sgt. Nate Ford from Fort Benning, Georgia taking a break during a blood timeout at the 2009 U.S. Army Combatives tournament at Fort Benning. He came in second to Sgt. Joe Clark from Fort Lewis, Washington in the Flyweight division. The blood on his shirt appears to have mostly come from Clark.

This soldier just minutes before jumped out of a Black Hawk into Victory Pond. Now he’s sliding down a rope about to jump back into the pond. This is just part of day 3 at the 2009 Best Ranger Competition.

Graduation Day

Solders from alpha company, 3rd battalion, 47th infantry regiment, 192nd infantry brigade graduate from basic training on May 7, 2009 inside the new National Museum of the Infantry at Fort Benning, GA. These soldiers from 2nd platoon smile and mug for cameras after the ceremony. One of the songs played as the soldiers entered the hall was the the main theme to “Last of the Mohicans”. That song seemed extremely fitting for these new soldiers who one day might be out on the battlefield.
