GI Film Festival

Welcome to the Military Times live-blog for the 2008 GI Film Festival, billed as “the first film festival in the nation to exclusively celebrate the successes and sacrifices of the American military through the medium of film.” I, Seamus O’Connor, will be your guide for 5 days of movies, panel discussions and military film-buffery.
This is the GIFF’s second year. The festival includes a combination of military film classics and world premiers, including the premier of the 5-hours-plus director’s cut of “Gods and Generals” — bring the big popcorn bucket, baby.
The festival is in Washington, D.C., with events at Bolling Air Force Base and the Carnegie Institution for Science. For those interested in attending, a full schedule and ticket information can be found at the official GIFF site. For everyone else, check back here frequently as I provide deep insights and unsparing reviews, and ask the tough questions: Why no Rambo V yet, Hollywood?
