“Spitfire 944″

This is a short film in which an Army Air Corps aviator, Lt. Col. John S. Blythe (ret.), watches footage of himself crash-landing a Spitfire after a recon mission over Germany — 61 years after the incident.
The film is very slickly produced and moves quickly. In a short time, it tells a great story: Blythe flew an unarmed Spitfire carrying two cameras over Germany to collect intelligence images. The plane was painted blue to blend in with the sky, a soft defense for an incredibly dangerous mission — these recce flights were unaccompanied by fighters.
Flyboys young and old will really get a kick out of this.
