Posted by Phil Ewing on November 10th, 2008 filed in UncategorizedMILWAUKEE — Rob and I plan to meet in a few minutes and head down to the Freedom, which is scheduled to get underway in just a couple hours for its first trip out of the Great Lakes and into the Atlantic. No use maintaining the world-weary journalistic facade; I’m pretty excited to see this ship and its crew and the totally new way they’re doing things. If the computer magic holds up, I should be blogging again about the LCS lifestyle by lunchtime.
In the meantime, if there are any curious surface warriors, airedales, bubbleheads or just enthusiasts who have questions about the Freedom they haven’t gotten answered, please send me them in an e-mail at pewing@navytimes.com or leave them in the comments. I’ll do my best to find the right sailor, chief or officer while we’re on board and get the details you’re looking for.
