Petraeus to be keynote speaker at Ga. college

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Gen. David Petraeus is scheduled to deliver the keynote address during Georgia Gwinnett College’s commencement ceremony next month.
The four-star general is head of U.S. Central Command, the headquarters overseeing U.S. military involvement throughout the Middle East, as well as Afghanistan and the rest of Central Asia.
The former top U.S. commander in Iraq is credited with effectively overseeing the “surge” strategy there.
Georgia Gwinnett College’s commencement ceremony is May 29.
Georgia Gwinnett College opened in 2006 in Atlanta’s northern suburbs. Enrollment has grown from about 100 when it first opened to more than 1,700 this year.
