BISMARCK, N.D. — A former North Dakota National Guard soldier wounded in Iraq has received his second Purple Heart.
The military says 27-year-old Justin Glasser of Fargo was wounded twice by roadside bombs in 2004.
The Guard says Glasser was wounded while serving with the 141st Engineer Combat Battalion. The military says his first Purple Heart was awarded in 2005 after he suffered ear damage after a roadside bomb explosion.
A second roadside bomb explosion a few months later injured his left knee and his right leg.
Glasser was recently discharged from the military after nine years of duty.
The Purple Heart is the oldest military decoration in use. It was created by George Washington.
