SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. — The military says it may move 51 supply jobs at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois to Virginia in a cost-cutting move.
The Air Force Materiel Command is considering whether to move the positions from the 635th Supply Chain Operations Wing at Scott to the 735th Supply Chain Operations Wing at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia. That's according to a statement issued Monday by the Air Force Sustainment Command.
Air Force Materiel Command spokesman Marlin Zimmerman tells the Belleville News-Democrat that a final decision could take between three and nine months. He says the affected positions include civilians and active-duty military.
The statement Monday said the 635th Supply Chain Operations Wing would remain at Scott and could receive other staffing in the future.
