COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Citing two assaults on popular campus trails since December, the Air Force Academy is warning hikers, runners and cyclists not to go alone until further notice.
An Academy spokesman said Wednesday the assaults were still under investigation and he had no information to release on them. The Academy reported the assaults on Monday when it posted a press release on its Website about what it called a temporary safety policy on its trails, which are open to the public. The Academy is also increasing foot and vehicle patrols on the trails.
The Gazette reported Tuesday that under the policy, the popular 13-mile Falcon Trail through the foothills and other areas will be open only to groups of two or more. Santa Fe Trail is not affected.
