Norfolk, Va. (Oct. 4, 2016) Tug boats pull the aircraft carrier George Washington as the ship gets underway from Norfolk Naval Station, Oct. 4. The GW is heading to sea to await possible tasking to provide relief to Haiti or other countries in the path if Hurricane Matthew which is expected to batter the Caribbean countries before heading to the East Coast of the United States.

(Oct. 4, 2016) The landing platform dock Mesa Verde heads to sea the morning of Oct. 4 to standby for orders to provide humanitarian assistance to the island of Haiti or other countries expected to take the brunt of Hurricane Matthew. Mesa Verde will accompany the aircraft carrier George Washington and the hospital ship Comfort is expected to join them as well.
