ARABIAN GULF (July 6, 2015) U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Paul Kainz fires at his target on the move during a short-range marksmanship qualification course aboard the dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47). Kainz is an automatic rifleman with Kilo Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Marines grappled for two minutes prior to going through the course of fire to simulate firing under stress and fatigue, which can occur in combat. The marksmanship course refined Marines combat marksmanship skills and incorporated the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, which reinforces their warrior ethos.
