Marine Corps recruits earn the title Marine and an Eagle, Globe and Anchor emblem after successfully completing 12 weeks of training. The emblem is earned only by those who are imbued with the Corps’ core values and have proven themselves worthy of belonging to the few and the proud. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. U.S. service members with Joint Task Force 505 board a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal, May 21 after Operation Sahayogi Haat. JTF 505 along with other multinational forces and humanitarian relief organizations were in Nepal providing aid after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the country, April 25 and a 7.3 earthquake on May 12. U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III's take off from Joint Base Charleston May 21, 2015 during Crescent Reach 15. This exercise tested and evaluated Joint Base Charleston's ability to launch a large aircraft formation in addition to processing and deploying duty passengers and cargo in response to a simulated crisis abroad. The 437th Airlift Wing launched 11 aircrafts as part of the multi-ship formation that flew to Pope AFB, North Carolina. There they joined four additional C-17s, six C-130s, E-8 JSTARS and two F-16s to participate in the 82nd Airborne Division's All American Week. During their time there, over 1,400 paratroopers and critical equipment, such as HUMVEES and artillery, were dropped to simulate a Joint Forcible Entry of the Global Response Force. All American Week is the Division's premiere event to maintain close ties with Division Veteran's as well as celebrate heritage and unit cohesion.(U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Nicholas Byers)
