Some military families who have experienced cancers and other illnesses believe they may be linked to the chemicals found in firefighting foam used by the military, which has contaminated ground and drinking water at military bases.
Nearly 350 French sailors and 27 French naval aviators embarked on the aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush on May 7, 2018, and headed to sea to operate as part of Carrier Air Wing 8. The exercise, called "The Chesapeake Deployment," is designed to help the French flight deck crews and air wing get back up to speed quicker as their carrier, the Charles de Gaulle returns to service after an 18-month overhaul.
