The MILITARY STAR card was approved by Congress in 1979 to protect service members from predatory lending and offer responsible credit solutions. MILITARY STAR offers financial benefits to all military branches. A significant portion of MILITARY STAR earnings are contributed to Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs that support military members.

School’s out and you’ve got a short window for getting away on a family vacation. Your MILITARY STAR card can help make that happen!

While you might think of MILITARY STAR as something you use at your local exchange, it actually can be your ticket to savings on your next vacation while also benefiting fun activities at home.

MWR Armed Forces Recreation Centers (AFRC)

Not only can you use your MILITARY STAR at MWR Armed Forces Recreation Centers (AFRC) but you can earn $20 rewards cards for your stay.  Pay at one of these full-service hotels with MILITARY STAR and you will earn two points for every dollar you spend. When you reach 2,000 points, you will automatically receive a $20 rewards card, which you can use anywhere an exchange gift card is accepted.

AFRC hotels provide high-quality, affordable lodging to vacationing service members and are located in Honolulu, Hawaii (Hale Koa); Seoul, South Korea (Dragon Hill); Garmisch, Germany (Edelweiss); and Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida (Shades of Green).

A seven-night stay in Shades of Green’s family suite will earn you over 2,000 points – earning a rewards card already.

There are also Exchange facilities at or near every AFRC, so you can stock up on snacks and souvenirs while continuing to earn points throughout your stay. Plus, new MILITARY STAR cardholders save 10% on all their first-day purchases, which can include your hotel bill, so your AFRC stay is a perfect opportunity to sign up and save big.

Planning a Staycation?

If your vacation budget or timing does not allow for travel to a distant location, there are a number of close-to-home options provided by Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs on your installation. Perhaps it’s scheduling a round of golf at an MWR Golf course or taking the kids to a pool on the installation for summer fun in the water.

The MILITARY STAR card helps fund these valuable programs by contributing a significant portion of its earnings to MWR, so service members and their families not only save with the card, they also give back to the MWR programs in their community every time they use MILITARY STAR.

Because supporting the military community is at the heart of the MILITARY STAR mission, the program has given hundreds of millions of dollars to MWR programs in the last decade.

MWR programs are a vital part of life on a military installation. MILITARY STAR is proud to support our service members through MWR, as well as through the special discounts, benefits and savings the MILITARY STAR card offers. Visit MyECP.com to learn more about how we support military members and their families. It is our honor to serve you.
