It’s that time of year again. PCS season is in full swing and military families across the country are packing up to move to a new post. Moving is stressful anytime, but it’s especially difficult now with the ongoing housing shortages and significant increases in rental and housing costs.
Fortunately, there is some good news: IHG® Army Hotels has extended the offering of the BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) rate at all 40 on-post locations throughout the US through the end of fiscal year 2023. By extending the rate, IHG Army Hotels can help families minimize their out-of-pocket expenses during PCS.
“We’re proud to be able to offer a home away from home for so many military travelers and their families and especially now with current housing disruptions. Thousands of families have taken advantage of this special discounted rate over the last couple of years and we know that extending the rate is the right thing to do to support those who serve us every day,” said Chuck Sourbeer, Vice President of Operations, IHG Army Hotels.
Our hotels have booked more than 224,000 rooms since the special BAH rate was announced in July 2021 (through May 2023). This equals an impressive $6m in total savings to our military service members from the BAH discounted hotel room rate.
The BAH rate is available upon request, under certain terms and conditions*, and not a default rate at check-in at IHG Army Hotels. A family (or anyone on PCS orders) having trouble securing housing should contact the housing office (or hotel front desk) for a form that provides hotel staff with the information they need to manually adjust the rate, so the going-forward rate equals their particular BAH amount.
IHG Army Hotels are the ideal location for families during PCS season. Many military families rely on our amenities and conveniences for temporary lodging as they wait for housing arrangements to be ready. The hotels are ideally suited to meet the demands of military travel because they’re located on post and offer reasonable rates. They’re also family-friendly, pet-friendly and offer amenities typically only found at hotels off-post, including complimentary hot breakfast and guest laundry facilities. Many hotels are also equipped with kitchens or kitchenettes for families needing extended stays. Plus, guests can earn IHG® One Rewards points redeemable for reward nights at more than 6,000 off-post IHG Hotels & Resorts worldwide. Those points will come in handy when it’s time for more relaxing travel like a vacation or weekend getaway.
As families get ready to move, they can rest easy knowing the staff at IHG Army Hotels will provide them with excellent service during their move. Many staff members are veterans or in military families themselves, so they have firsthand knowledge of how to deal with the challenges of PCS and are ready to help anyway they can.
If you’re on the move this year, consider staying at IHG Army Hotels. With the extension of the BAH rate, it might be one of the easier decisions you make during PCS.
