FORT MEADE, Md. — Two Marines who were killed while on a relief mission in Nepal have been inducted into the Defense Information School's Hall of Heroes.
The Capital Gazette reports that Cpl. Sara Medina, of Aurora, Illinois, and Lance Cpl. Jacob Hug, of Phoenix, Arizona, were inducted into the school's memorial at Fort George G. Meade on Monday.
Medina and Hug died in helicopter crash in May during a mission to provide aid in Nepal following the April 25 earthquake that killed more than 9,000 people.
The Hall of Heroes was unveiled in 2006 to honor those in the communications field who died serving their country.
The U.S. Defense Department says Medina served as a combat photographer. Hug was a combat videographer. Both were with the Marine Corps Installations Pacific in Okinawa, Japan.
