BRUSSELS — NATO officials say the first meeting of the NATO-Russia Council since 2014 will take place next week at NATO headquarters.
NATO deputy spokeswoman Carmen Romero said Tuesday the agenda for the April 20 meeting includes the Ukraine crisis and full implementation of the Minsk accords intended to end the fighting there. The council will also discuss NATO and Russian military activities, with a focus on transparency and risk reduction, as well as the security situation in Afghanistan and regional terror threats.
Russia is to be represented by its ambassador to the U.S.-led alliance.
According to NATO officials, the meeting will be the council's first since June 2014. That year, NATO suspended all practical cooperation with Moscow because of what it saw as aggressive Russian actions in Ukraine.
