CHESTERFIELD, Va. — The Virginia National Guard is getting a new state headquarters.
Workers will break ground on the new 102,000 square foot facility at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Defense Supply Center Richmond in Chesterfield County. The headquarters will be located on the northern section of the center and be the workspace for the adjutant general of Virginia, Virginia National Guard joint staff and Air National Guard staff.
They currently work out of the Mullins Readiness Center in Sandston.
The roughly $30 million project is expected to be done by February 2018. It's being funded primarily through federal dollars.
