1918: A Pfalz D.IIIa and an Albatros D.Va of Royal Württemberg Jagdstaffel 64 were brought down at Gengoult aerodrome by Nieuports 28s of the 94th Aero Squadron flown by former Lafayette Flying Corps pilot 2nd Lt. Alan Winslow and 1st Lt. David Campbell. They were the first victories for the 94th and Doug Campbell was the first American-trained fighter pilot in the U.S. Army Air Service to score a confirmed aerial victory.
