Officials at Kubasaki High School at Camp Foster, Okinawa, canceled classes and after-school activities following the threat of a “potential active shooter,” according to a Facebook post by DoDEA Pacific officials.

School officials are working with installation security forces to investigate the threat. “We take any threat of this nature with the utmost seriousness,” officials stated. School was canceled as a precautionary measure.

“If we identify the student(s) responsible for making a threat or perpetuating a rumor, be assured that we will take appropriate disciplinary action,” officials stated.

Further information was not immediately available.

About 600 students attend the school in grades 9-12.
