Tactical Tailor is known for its lineup of nylon equipment, and the past few years it has shown large growth in size and operations.  As this is being written, its store front is being completely gutted, remodeled and should be ready soon as a modern showcase of how far it has come over the years.

This year brings out a new line of packs from the Tactical Tailor crew, and we've had a chance to play around with some of them over the past month or so.  The following gives the specs for the packs, as well as pictures shot by the Tactical Tailor crew.  I doubt that living out of a pack will ever be enjoyable, and humping a fully loaded, large-frame pack isn't something that most people look forward to, but this new beast does a good job of spreading the weight around to the right places.  The longest I've worn it is 25-30 minutes, which isn't the same as an all-day trip, but it gave me a general feel for this new beast -- and it feels good.

Removable Operator Pack

  • Quick Attach Assault Pack

Also includes heavy-duty zippers, sternum strap, grab handle, loop material for patches and 3-liter hydration pocket. All hardware needed to attach the pack to other gear is also included.
  • This pack makes a great addition to the Extended Range Operator Pack or any Tactical Tailor modular vests, or use it alone as a small day pack.

Extended Range Operator

  • The largest of the Operator series packs is the Extended Range Operator Pack. Its large size and extensive list of features make it essential for longer missions.
  • The large main compartment is lined with six additional pockets for organization of smaller items as well as a full-length heavy-duty zipper that can allow the pack to be accessed from the top or from the side like a duffle bag. The top of the bag includes a smaller storage pocket for items you need to access quickly with external bungee system to secure lightweight clothing articles.
  • The outside of the pack is covered with modular webbing for attaching additional modular pouches or the smaller Removable Operator Pack. You will also find double padded shoulder straps with load-lifters for comfort and weight distribution, an aluminum and HDPE internal frame for rigidity, and an external hydration pocket with covered drinking tube ports. Other features include six compression straps, large waist belt, sternum strap and hidden VS-17 style marker panel for emergency identification.
  • All of these features make the Extended Range Operator the only long range pack you will need.
