Leatherman entered the shooter's tool market today with the release of the MUT. Despite the popularity of so many of Leatherman tools by service members, this is the first pair of purpose-built multitool the company has made for the military market.

Leatherman took direction on the tools development from US Army Sgt. First Class Aaron Hampton and Sgt. First Class Robby Johnson, both well-known military and competitive shooters.
Three features set the MUT apart from other weapon maintenance tools:
- bolt overide tool that grabs the leading edge of the bolt carrier and lets the shooter pull back the bolt to clear a jammed casing.
- replaceable bronze carbon scraper, wear it out and replace it without having to send the tool back in for service.
- replaceable cord cutting blade- cut through 550 cord without even opening the tool. Wear it out and replace it in the field.
There is also an EOD specific version that will have Fuse wire cutters, cap crimper and a C4 punch.
Expect the tool to be available in September. The price is still a moving target, but the MSRP at the moment is $150.
