EMA just released the RONI. It's a drop-in conversion kit that turns your pistol into a carbine. We saw it in action on the range and thought you'd like to see just what a fully tricked out Glock looks like. It's no MP5/7, but it's only a $400 upgrade and it's going to get you 80% of the way to a sub-machine gun. You're still limited by the short barrel length of the hosted weapon, but if you need a steady platform for an active shooter situation, this is probably all you need to engage close-in targets.
The RONI is about $400 and comes with a folding foregrip to get you started on your accessory odyssey and features a 9.4" top rail, and 2.25" side rails and short rail under the barrel. Out back, you get a 5 position stock with an adjustable cheek rest and a spare mag holder. Options include a brass catcher and a barrel shroud to accommodate a suppressor. They are available in black, tan and green.
The build quality of the version we saw at the range was decent. This isn't just a big piece of plastic. It's got aluminum in there to give it plenty of rigidity. Shooting a 9mm with this thing would be about as violent as blowing bubbles, so I'm not surprised EMA went with an aluminum skeleton instead of steel to keep the weight (and cost) down. It clocks in at about 55 oz, which seems heavy, but you might appreciate all that weight taming your .40.
We saw it with a Glock 17, but the RONI-G will take the 17, 18, 19, 22, 23, 25, 31, 32, 34 and 35. Coming within the month are models that will fit Springfield, XDs, Beretta PX4 Storms, and Sig 226 & 2022. EMA says they are going to have even more models coming to cover the Glock 21s, Beretta 92, H&Ks, FN's Five-7, Para's P14 and more.
