moreWe'll call the S.A.P. an S.U.V. admin pouch sized at about 6.75" x 6.25" x 2.5" overall. At 10 oz. it's a little on the chunky side, but we can forgive that by attributing the weight to the body's heavy duty 1000d Cordura construction. While it seems a bit of a luxurious flourish, the interior of the main panels are lined. At first, we thought the lining was an aesthetic choice to hide the outer stitching. But, it actually keeps things from getting hung up on and damaging the skeletal stitching. Think of how many times your knife clip is going slide against those stitches coming in and out. All the other internal pockets are 500d to keep the weight down.

It's set up to carry the usual assortment of 4" x 6" notebook based gear; a protractor fits in any of the sleeve pockets and 4 map pens ride horizontally inside the front flap. At the base of the outer pocket is a little Velcro to hold the included clear vinyl map sleeve in place. It can be used for an ID carrier or as a map/smart card holder. The inner, zip-top pocket is set up to hold fatter gear like lights, multitools, chemlights and such with elastic keeps to keep stuff where you put it. The zippers are offset and can be arranged so that you always open the right pocket, even in the dark.

Outside, there are four flat web loops that reinforce the main pocket stitching and also serve to hold a pen or slim flashlight. There's also a drain grommet at the bottom of the main pocket. Since it doesn't zip all the way around, the grommet is a nice touch that will let the sewage out of the pocket after a night patrol misstep. Around the back, a triple column of PALS make it pretty easy to attach to your vest or pack. The Monkey even throws in a couple MALICE clips to get you going right out of the box. Made in the USA and available in from Milspec Monkey for $36 in Multicam, ACU, coyote, tan, foliage, OD green, black.
