While SHOT Show gets rolling this morning, I figured our gun buffs would surely love to see the Colt 1911 anniversary model line, some of which feature 22-karat gold trim. They weren't on display at media range day yesterday, but Colt is promoting them heavily in a media kit distributed to journalists here.

The first model featured in the photo gallery here (pictured above) is the 01911ANVI, which Colt produced a single model of to mark 100 years of 1911s. Colt says that more than 300 hours of "master-level" engraving was done on the piece, which includes an image of John Browning's likeness on the grip. It's safe to say us regular folks won't be laying our hands on it anytime soon.

Two other models are promoted much more at length in the kit. The first is the 01911ANVII, which features 22-karat-gold trim on the slide and gold medallions on a cocobolo grip. It sells for $2,295, and only 750 weapons were produced.

The second model with matching literature in the kit is the 01911ANVIII. It's based on the 01918 Colt configuration of the 1911. The anniversary is marked on the slide. It sells for $1,150, and production will be limited to orders placed Nov. 30, 2011.

The last pistol in the photo gallery is labeled in Colt's new media kit as a 100th-anniversary mode, but additional details were scant Monday. I'll add more details if I can get them today.
