Centurion Arms has taken their lightweight, free floating, two-piece rail system and developed a variant which extends around the M4 or carbine gas system front sight base.  As shown in the below pictures, this allows for mounting the small flashlights in the 12 o'clock position.  Why do we care about where the flashlight is mounted?  A direct overhead position allows a shooter to manipulate the switch with either hand, keeps barrel shadowing to the underneath preventing unnatural blind spots, and aids in preventing unintended flash back from your light when up against barricades/ cover.

If you are one of the people who is mandated to have a fixed FSB, or just hate folding sights, this is worth a look.

Manufacturer specs shown below.

"Our patent pending C4 rail system is a lightweight, rugged, 2 piece free float rail that when installed gives the uppers a continuous 12o'clock rail. The C4 system is the lightest and most rigid rail that clamps to a standard barrel nut on all AR15, M4, and M16 type weapons systems.  Our design allows the installation of the rail on an upper assembly without removing the front sight post or permanently attached muzzle devices."
