Gerber entered the weapon's maintenance field with with the eFect designed to work on our AR style rifles, but they are pushing the concept further this year to crew served weapons with the M249/M240 tool. The tool performs 17 primary functions and is stamped on each side with either M249 or M240 to make make it easy to match the selected tool to the weapon system. Machin gunners will find that some of the tools exactly duplicate the factory tools made for you gun. Some tools perform multiple functions. There were no crew served weapons readily available for a demonstration in the Gerber booth at SHOT Show 2013, but check the feature descriptions below for available functions.
M240 Cleaning: Piston Scraper, Gas Block Outer Groove one & two scrapers, Gas Block Port cleaner.
M240 Front Sight Adjustment: Bail Removal, Elevation Adjustment, Windage Adjustment, and Bail Install tools.
M249 Saw Gas Block: Removal, Barrel, Shoulder, Inner Groove, & Outer Groove tools.
M249 SAW Other/Cleaning: Piston Inner Cup & Outer Groove, and Gas Tube Inner Groove scraper.
