Slidefire is updating its product lines for the AR and AK platforms with extensively redesigned models that reflect the company's growing maturity.

The AK Hybrid Stock is a completely aluminum AK-specific stock that allows for simulated full-auto fire.

According the company, shooters can take can almost any AR pistol grip and stock and add it to the AK, allowing a near-infinite choice of stocks that can be installed for the look and feel that best fits the shooter while adding the option to simulate rapid fire. In essence, AK users still can turn their gun into a Barbie doll while maintaining the AK-ness they love in the platform. It's fully ambidextrous, advancing past the previous righty- or lefty-only versions.

The interchangeable interface block that's new to this stock is also an upgrade from the older version that would fit only the stamped AK models like the WASR, which comprise only about 40 percent of  the AKs in the U.S. Slidefire wanted to reach the masses; with the new interface block, the stock will now fit on a PAP, an AKM and other AK styles. The block also includes an integrated QD swivel mount.

Slidefire told us they were proudest of their newest flagship AR stock, a marked improvement over the original versions that were plagued by sloppy fit and lightweight polymer, with upgrades to heavyweight polymer and incorporating a chassis lock switch.

It's called the SSAR15 Mod. Slidefire took to heart the criticism that the SSAR15 was a gimmick or a toy and set out to make the stock look better, contain more ergonomics, and reduce the "play" of Version 1.

With a six-position extendable stock to change length of pull, QD mounts, and adjustable locking mechanisms for a rock-solid fit when not in rapid-fire mode, the stock feels more like, well, a regular stock. This allows users to train with the AR as they normally would, then quickly convert to "giggle mode" as needed with the turn of a switch.

The AK Hybrid will be available the second week of February 2015, and the SSAR15 Mod will be available April 1, both with a price around $299.
