L3's EOTech showed off a couple of new products at SHOT Show 2015, including two new models in the line of Holographic Weapon Sights.
Following the recent trend toward AA battery use (for those who want a common battery for all their devices, or who live in areas where less-common batteries such as CR123s are hard to find), EOTech has taken the well-regarded EXPS sight body and changed the battery box to accept a pair of standard AA batteries. What you get is essentially a raised version of the older 552 models with the latest integrated throw lever quick-detach mount.
The new models have the designations 518 and 558, respectively. The 518 is the non-night-vision-compatible version featuring the standard 20 brightness settings with automatic shutoff after either 4 or 8 hours. The 558 ads an NV activation button along with 10 additional NV power levels that will work with Gens 1-3 night vision devices.
Battery life is stated to be 1,000 hours at setting 12 using lithium batteries, and 600 hours at the same setting with alkaline batteries.
Both are available now at $539 for the 518 and $629 for the 558.
