Wisconsin-based manufacturer Midwest Industries introduced several new products at SHOT Show.

Building on the popularity of SBRs and pistol builds, MI understands that shooters are incessantly looking for better ways to move the blast of gasses and carbon away from their faces. New for 2015, MI has brought to market the Blast Diverter muzzle device, which will sell for around $30. Available shortly after SHOT Show, the exciting part, according to the company, is that the device will fit into any 1.3-inch diameter handguard giving users that "hidden barrel" look.

MI has been pushing hard to create a full suite of MLOK-compatible handguards across platforms such as the FN SCAR, AR-15, and .308 variations, but also has MLOK handguards for the Tavor (below right) and AK variants (below left). The extended-length handguards also have a little extra texture for positive feel whether bare-handed or gloved.

Also announced was an extended free-float rail (below left) with a standard Picatinny top and MLOK slots on three sides, which is great for shooters who run multiple accessories. The second variant, a lightweight version (below right) has additional MLOK slots on the top of the rail, providing more configuration options for shooters who like their gear on top, such as mounting a low-profile light or tape switch. The 12-inch lightweight handguard weighs in at 8 ounces with a steel barrel nut. With a  total of five anti-rotation, quick-detach swivel points on the rail, MI claims that these rails are the lightest ounce-for-ounce when compared to other rails with the same features.

All of the 2015-model handguards will be available in early 2015. For pricing information on the full product line, visit midwestindustriesinc.com.
