Known for its optic-mounting systems, American Defense Manufacturing is leaping into the premium rifle market with three new models for 2015.

Starting with the UIC, the Universal Improved Carbine, ADM wanted to redesign the AR and give shooters the most premium rifle that could be assembled — while maintaining affordability.

The Mod 1 UIC-15 (top) is aimed at shooters who want to open a box and go straight to the range. They may want to upgrade in the future, but it is not the primary focus for buying the rifle. This gun has many of the same features of the more expensive Mod 2 and Mod 3 but sacrifices some bling for affordability. The Mod 1 has a full 7075 billet lower receiver, a full ambidextrous bolt catch unique to ADM, ambi safety selectors, ambi mag release, and an enlarged bolt catch release on the left side. The upper is standard forged with a standard charging handle, phosphate full-auto mil-spec bolt carrier group, and a standard mil-spec trigger. The barrel ends in a Griffin Armament Tac Comp. The Mod 1 is available in 16-inch and black hardcoat only with an ADM Low Light rail that has four quick-detach swivel mounts. MSRP on the Mod 1 is $1,650.

The flagship rifle in the UIC line is the 6.5-pound Mod 2 (bottom) and has a matched 7075-billet upper and lower receiver, 6061 Low Light rail with M-LOK capability, though a keymod version is available as well. Mod 2 adds options for barrel length and color. With an overall 16-inch length (14.5-inch barrel with the muzzle device pinned and welded) as well as 12-inch factory SBR (short-barreled rifle). The Mod 2 and Mod 3 will be upgraded to a Griffin Armament Flash Comp. All of the Mods come suppressor-ready from the factory. Colors available are black hardcoat, FDE (flat dark earth), grey, green and bronze. MSRP is $1,850 for the black hardcoat; Cerakoted colors start at $2,000.

The Mod 3, which is not yet available, comes equipped with a three-position, low-profile adjustable gas block, with two settings for running suppressed and one unsuppressed setting.

Lastly, the UIC 10-A in the SHOT Show booth was a prototype .308 rifle. ADM carried over all of the ambidextrous controls from the 5.56 and 300 BLK line. The UIC 10-A is a 16-inch rifle system with a Criterion barrel. Available in Spring 2015, the UIC 10-A has not been priced, but ADM aims to have it come in around $3,000.
