The PWS Enhanced Duty Slide (EDS) for Gen 1-3 Glock 17 and 19 pistols is an aftermarket slide held to tight tolerances with special consideration given to internal surfaces. According to PWS, this results in a vast improvement of the Glock's trigger system with absolutely no changes to the factory trigger system
Billet machined from 1704 stainless steel, the EDS has additional side serrations, and reduces trigger pull by 0.7 to 1 pound depending on variations with trigger parts from pistol to pistol. The slide is treated with DLC for hardness and corrosion resistance.
At the PWS booth a standard, unmodified Gen 2 Glock 17 frame was available to compare the factory setup directly to the upgraded slide setup on the exact same pistol. I was honestly surprised by how much crisper the trigger was during dry firing as well as the increased strength of the reset. It definitely felt as though the pistol was using a serious aftermarket trigger system upgrade; though the only thing changed was the slide. Take up was similar to a standard Glock, but the break was surprisingly crisp.
PWS later released a video showing people's reactions to the slide's effects on the pistol's trigger, available on Youtube here, as triggers' performance are hard to explain: it's definitely something better felt in person.
For folks looking to increase trigger performance without modifying the proven and robust stock trigger system directly, this slide is definitely worth looking at. MSRP of $449 with Glock sights or $549 with Trijicon HD sights. This slide is compatible with Gen 1-3 Glocks, and will be available for the model 17 and model 19.
