What's the timeline for the roll out of the new Army PT test? Army Times staff writer Lance Bacon reports that it probably won't be anytime soon. He writes:
A common question is heard nearly every time troops fall out for unit PT: When does the new fitness test begin?
It's a good question that has no clear answer. Recommended changes were provided in March to Gen. Robert Cone, commander of Training and Doctrine Command. What was expected to be a 30-day review has entered its fifth month. It is unknown whether Cone has sought further data or changes before signing his approval. TRADOC officials did not respond to calls seeking an update.

Once – and if – Cone signs off, the proposed test will go to Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno. The standing timeline for the past two years expected a decision from the chief by April, a six-month transition and full implementation by Oct. 1. If the six-month transition holds, the new test would not become policy until next year.
