Dependents of military members who are making a permanent change-of-station move to the United Kingdom no longer are required to have a visa before making the move — unless they are nationals or citizens of a country listed on the UK Visa Nationals List.

Those who are not on the list must get a visa after arriving in the UK, according to a notice posted on the RAF Mildenhall website.

Those whose countries are among the 110 on that list must have a visa before arriving in the United Kingdom.

Military dependents who are U.S. citizens or nationals of other countries that are not listed on the UK Visa Nationals List must apply for a "leave to remain" visa, and provide biometrics after arriving in the UK.

Regardless of whether dependents need a visa, all family members must have a U.S. no-fee passport before making the PCS move. The nearest military installation passport office can help in obtaining a no-fee passport. Officials also recommend that dependents get a U.S. tourist passport in addition to the no-fee passport, although it's not required.

A UK visa is not required for military members making a PCS move to the UK.
