The service is also revamping their fitness academy and adding skills identifiers for NCOs.
The active duty Air Force made it about 90% of the way to its goal of 26,877 enlisted recruits.
Gen. James Hecker, the top Air Force commander for Europe and Africa, said the U.S. is flying both manned and unmanned missions in Niger.

The pilot program is the Air Force’s attempt to mirror the troop packages put forward by the other armed forces.
The pair hammered reducing burdens, raising standards, improving equipment and focusing on warfighting.
“It’s really about prioritization, right?” Brig. Gen. Luke Cropsey said. “How far can you get with the dollar you have available?”
“There’s been some exceptional recognition ... but it is not at all where I want it to be,” Air Mobility Command boss Gen. Mike Minihan said.
The shortfall makes it more difficult for the service to fill a pilot shortage of around 2,000 people that has persisted for years.
“We are finally, after years and years and years of trying to do this, getting rid of the Scantrons."
